I have been a little disappointed with the hats available for boys at baby clothing stores. All I wanted was a cute cap with a little brim but couldn't find one for less than $20. So, I decided to make one.

This pattern uses a 6mm hook for the body of the hat and a 5mm hook for the brim with light worsted weight yarn (I used Knit Picks Mighty Stitch). It is written for both 0-3 month and 3-6 month sizes.

Gauge: 8 sts in 7 rows is a 2 inch square.

Pattern:

All sizes, with a 6mm hook: Row 1:  8 hdc in a magic circle, sl st to form a ring. Row 2:  Ch, 2 hdc in each st around, sl st to join. (16 sts)/div> Row 3:  Ch, [hdc, 2 hdc in next st] repeat 8 times, sl st to join. (24 sts) Row 4:  Ch, [hdc 2, 2 hdc in next st] repeat 8 times, sl st to join. (32 sts)
