Valentine's Day Heart

Updated: Jan 25, 2019

Difficulty: Beginner ✦✧✧✧✧

Here is a great free beginner's amigurumi crochet pattern of a heart for your love.

This shows you how to combine small features (like a semi-circle) together to make a larger more ornate object.

Once you get the hang of it, these are really easy to make! I can make one in about 15 minutes. It's a great use of all those bits of yarn leftover from other projects and perfect for today!

Make 2 semi circles:

Row 1: Chain 5, slip stitch (st) in the first chain Row 2: 2 single crochet (sc) in each chain of the round.  (10 sts). Row 3:  [1 sc, 2 sc in the next sc] repeat 5 times.  (15 sts). Row 4:  1 sc in each sc of the round.  (15 sts).    Tie off the first semicircle. After completing the second semicircle, continue directly to joining.

Join the 2 semi circles and create the cone

Stitch 1 sc from each semi circle together from the inside for 3 sc.

Insert the hook from the inside of one semicircle to the inside of the second semicircle.

Row 5:  sc in each sc on the first semi circle (12 sts) and continue to sc in each sc of the second semi circle (12 sts), ignoring the 3 joined sc, for 24 sc around.

Crochet around the first semicircle and continue to the second semicircle to join the two.

Row 6:  [sc in the next 2 sc, sc2tog] repeat around.  (18 sts). Row 7:  sc in each sc around.  (18 sts). Row 8:  [sc in next sc, sc2tog] repeat around.  (12 sts). Row 9:  sc in each sc around.  (12 sts).    Stuff the heart. Row 10:  [sc2tog] around.  (6 sts). Row 11:  [sc2tog] around.  (3 sts).

Tie off and tuck the string inside.    Now you have a beautiful heart!

Hearts can be made in any color, but more importantly, with any yarn and any size hook.
